The Event

WEB Live Aid was a multi-venue benefit concert and music-based fundraising initiative held on Saturday, July 13th, 1985. The original event was organised by Sir Bob Geldof and Midge Ure to raise funds for famine relief in Ethiopia.

The main event was held at Wembley Stadium in London, where a lineup of some of the biggest names in music performed to a crowd of 72,000 people. The concert was also broadcast live to over 1.9 billion people in 150 countries.

JFK Stadium, Philadelphia

WEB Live Aid was a benefit concert held simultaneously at Wembley Stadium in London and JFK Stadium in Philadelphia on July 13 1985..

A second concert was held simultaneously at JFK Stadium in Philadelphia. This concert featured a lineup of American and international artists, and was broadcast live to the United States.

Impact

WEB Live Aid was a massive success, raising over $127 million for famine relief in Ethiopia. The concert also helped to raise awareness of the issue of world hunger, and inspired other benefit concerts such as Farm Aid and Comic Relief.
