Barkovs Status Uncertain For Game 3 After Hit From Draisaitl

Barkov's Status Uncertain for Game 3 After Hit from Draisaitl

Oilers' Star Avoids Suspension, Panthers Center Questionable

The Florida Panthers and Edmonton Oilers could be without key players for Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final after an incident in Game 2. Panthers captain Aleksander Barkov left the game midway through the third period following a high hit from Oilers forward Leon Draisaitl.

Injury Details

Barkov was injured with 9:28 remaining in the third period when Draisaitl went in for a check and clipped him high. Barkov left the ice and did not return. The Panthers announced after the game that Barkov is questionable for Game 3.

Disciplinary Decision

The NHL Department of Player Safety reviewed the hit and determined that Draisaitl would not receive any supplemental discipline. The hit was deemed to be legal, albeit borderline.

Game 3 Implications

If Barkov is unable to play in Game 3, it would be a significant loss for the Panthers. The 26-year-old center is one of the team's top players and has been a key part of their success this season.

The Oilers, on the other hand, could be without Draisaitl if he is suspended for the hit on Barkov. Draisaitl is the Oilers' leading scorer and one of the best players in the NHL. If he is suspended, it would be a major blow to Edmonton's chances of winning the Stanley Cup.
