Walz Addresses the State from Owatonna High School for the First Time
ST. PAUL, Minn. - Democratic Governor Tim Walz delivered a relatively brief State of the State address Tuesday night at Owatonna High School. In his speech, Walz pledged to make Minnesota both a "shining example of American prosperity" and a "firewall to the forces of hatred."
This was the first time that Walz has delivered the State of the State address from outside the Capitol. He said that he chose to speak from Owatonna High School to highlight the importance of education and to send a message that "we are all in this together." Walz also said that he believes that Minnesota can be a "beacon of hope" for the rest of the country.
In his address, Walz outlined a number of priorities for the upcoming legislative session, including investing in education, affordable housing, and mental health care. He also called for a "new era of civility" in politics.
