Former Arsenal and Everton striker Kevin Campbell has died at the age of 54, the Premier League has announced.

Campbell, who played 32 times for England, played for Arsenal from 1988 to 1995, scoring 99 goals in 341 appearances.

He was a member of the first Arsenal team to win the league title in 1989, and also won the FA Cup with the Gunners in 1993.

Campbell also played for Tottenham, West Bromwich Albion, Nottingham Forest and Leyton Orient before retiring in 2001.

He was capped 32 times for England, scoring eight goals, and played at the 1996 European Championship.

Campbell had been ill for a short time and was recently admitted to hospital.

Tributes have been paid to Campbell by his former clubs and team-mates.

"Kevin was a hugely popular figure at Arsenal," said the club in a statement.

"He was a key member of the first Arsenal team to win the league in 1989, and his goals were crucial in our success in that period.

"Our thoughts are with Kevin's family and friends at this sad time."
